Thinking of where to find your place in this world? Or perhaps just looking at picking up an extra skill or two? This section is for you.

We list government thinking on skills in agriculture, and the role players. Associations and SETAs involved, agricultural schools, colleges/training institutes, Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges offering agriculture, Universities and short course training providers are what the “Agricultural education and training” page is about. It also points to Learnerships, apprenticeships and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Part 1 of “Careers and employment in agriculture” sets out the career paths in agriculture-specific fields. You will find out where to study, the duration of the qualification and where the job opportunities are. Part 2 lists other possibilities, careers and options which touch on the agri-food value chain. Administrators, accountants, social workers, laboratory workers … sooner or later in the course of agricultural pursuits you will come across those engaged in fields like this. Part 3 looks at bursaries and people who assist in finding graduates a job.
