Introduction

Agronomy

Here we look mainly at cereals and oilseed crops.  These are field crops, usually grown on a large scale for food, fuel and fibre.

The processing end can be milling (large scale, or small and micro milling) for human or animal consumption, the extraction of vegetable oil (biofuel, cooking or industrial uses), snacks (salted peanuts, chips, fries) and alcoholic beverages. Value add possibilities are listed on the individual pages.

See the “Horticulture” and “Forestry and industrial crops” pages for other crops.
